Thank you for your interest in helping to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions!
Kids can be involved in helping the Foundation by raising money to help grant wishes. You can do this on your own, with a group of friends, or through your school.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q. I'm under age 18 and would like to volunteer, what can I do?
A. Our official volunteers must at least 18 years old, but you can be involved in planning a fundraiser, sponsoring a collection drive to donate items to the Foundation, or you can participate in our Walk For Wishes event to be held June 7th.
Q. I don't feel comfortable fundraising for Make-A-Wish, but I'd like to do a collection project. Is there something that I could collect for you?
A. Make-A-Wish could use disposable cameras or backpacks stuffed with books, markers, pens, and other goodies that we can give to a Wish Child. For more ideas, contact the Make-A-Wish office at 310-788-9474.
Q. I want to Adopt-A-Wish. How do I do this?
A. This is a wonderful goal! Due to the high costs associated with granting a child's wish, the minimum amount to adopt-a-wish is $2,500. If you and your group raise $2,500, you can be assigned a child whose wish you can help make come true. The majority of these wishes are shopping sprees or birthday parties. We can send you photos from the wish that you granted!
Q. I did a fundraiser with my school for Make-A-Wish and we raised more than $2,500. How do I know whose wish we granted?
A. Congratulations! You have made a child's wish come true! To adopt a wish, complete the Adopt-A-Wish form and send it to Alicia by fax at 310-785-9474. She will speak with the wish-granting department and let you know whose wish you can adopt. We will try to send you a photo of your wish child on his/her wish!
Q. Can I meet the child whose wish I granted?
A. While we would love to introduce our wish recipients to their amazing wish sponsors, this is not something we can guarantee. Sometimes the wish children are unable to meet you because of their illness or because of their treatment schedules. Other times the wish children are too shy and do not feel comfortable meeting a group of students, even a group as kind-hearted as yours. We can try our best to assign you a child who may be able to meet you, but we cannot guarantee that a meeting will happen. We can usually send photos from the wish and share stories about it.
